The overarching goal of this internationally collaborative research project is to improve the clinical diagnosis and nonpharmacological therapy for Chinese-speaking PPA patients. This project consists of two specific aims. The first aim focuses on examining the treatment effect of linguistically tailored speech and language therapies in the Chinese-speaking population. For Aim 2, we plan to identify language and neural treatment predictors for these interventions. This project will provide novel mechanistic insights into the neural basis of language, establish linguistically-adapted tools, and better inform the nonpharmacological approaches for Chinese-speaking PPA patients. This effort will in turn improve clinical diagnosis and care for Chinese-speaking population, promotes linguistics diversity in the field of dementia research, and reduce healthcare disparity across speakers of different languages.
